JUMPING CROCS AND SOLD OUT SHOW
Wow it's been a beautiful couple of weeks. 14 days in Darwin and The Luckies were treated to everything Darwin does best: Territory Day madness where the free-range fireworks and Top End drunken lawlessness combine to leave us wimpy southerners (and dogs far and wide) shaking in our boots. Followed by day after day of balmy weather and beer, the universe's best laksa, lotsa gigs, and 3 glorious days in Kakadu. We even went on the Spectacular Jumping Croc Tour. (Did we see Brutus? you may well ask, well, no, but we met his less intimidating, slightly smaller siblings). A pumping crowd sweated it out with us at a sold out show at the funky saloon style Darwin Railway Club with the amazing Dave Garnham and the Reasons to Live and new band bestie Danny "Have you seen my new boat" Ammon. Now there's a venue I'd like to see made into an app.
WE LOVE DARWIN!!!! Of course leaving Darwin always sucks not just cause it's so freakin lovely but also cause the planes only leave in the middle of the night, so we arrived back in Brizzy at the refreshing time of 5.30am, to drive home to Byron and collapse for a while, and rise again for my birthday shindig with our favourite city-cousins The Stillsons who are up on tour from Melbourne. A rockin night was had by all, then back home for a pajama party with their lovely selves and sent them off this morning with tummies full of porridge and little love tears in our eyes. Life is good my friends...

A week in wonderland 04/07/2011

Hello there,
It's been another big week for the Luckies. Jess and I (Emma) started off the weekend with a cosy duo gig at the Treehouse on Thursday.....I swear every venue needs a couch on stage and a velvet ceiling! I feel like I spent most of Friday trying desperately to get my renegade chooks back into  their house. Then it was time to head to The Patch Lounge where Julz Parker jumped on stage and added her magic to our tunes. Julz is an extraordinary guitarist, her band Hussy Hicks are playing at Bluesfest this year whoot whoot!
On Saturday we did our bit for the Planet, playing a free set at Solarshift, an awesome event put on by AYCC (Australian Youth Climate Coalition). This event aimed to raise funds to get the Mullum Civic Hall onto solar power...go team. It's so cool to see the community get behind events like this and props to those who got it together to organise it. Anastassijah clocked up her first win scoring two lolly jars in the guessing competition and Jessie won the third so we are well sugared up for our gig at The Rails tonight!
On another note, we're a bit chuffed with some footage we received of our Arts Northern Rivers Music Showcase gig from a few weeks back. Thanks to Mick McHugh for organising it (I think he might be the hardest working musician in the world) and Tabata Piccinelli for the editing job.
Would love to hear what you think of it. Also it's probably time to let you know that facebook is now the best way to get hold of us...love.......
